Merriam-Webster defines barn burner this way: One that arouses much interest or excitement.

Dictionary.com agrees with its definition: Something that is highly exciting, impressive, etc.

What is more exciting than a remodel or a new build project? Not much besides a new baby, in my opinion. Like a new baby, home projects come with their fair share of second-guessing, sleepless nights, and even tears! But it doesn’t have to be that way.

BarnBurner Design’s approach of providing curated selections — with the final decisions being made by the client — is the perfect pairing of our expertise and your personal flair.

If you never want to walk the floor of a tile shop squinting at various shades of white under harsh fluorescent light, we are here for you! If you want to protect your sizeable investment by making the correct color choice for your kitchen cabinets the first time, let BarnBurner Design take the (color) wheel! Maybe you plan to sell your home in a few years but want to improve the aesthetic for now without breaking the bank.

Let me tell you that everything seen in THIS picture from a big box store is a mistake. The left flooring sample looks like a safe choice only because the other two options are just SO BAD. But if you look closely, or place it next to real hardwood flooring, it will look extremely busy and the gray wash will quickly date it to the 2010-2020s. If you have kids, pets, dust, or wear shoes inside don’t you dare even look at the sample on the right. Strategic product placement helps stores sell more of what they want to sell.

No matter the circumstance, BarnBurner Design wants to make your project exciting, impressive, and even ENJOYABLE! Mischief managed!

Hardwood flooring for a 2,000 sf house can be $20,000 – $40,000. You can’t afford to choose a trendy finish. The typical full house cabinetry budget for a midgrade home with a custom builder is $40,000. Get it right the first time.

I get it, it’s hard! That’s why you need our help to protect your investment. I was just talking to a client yesterday who was considering a very beautiful but busy and expensive quartz for her smaller kitchen. It was the sample she liked best from the builders’ supply store where she ordered her cabinets. After discussing it further she realized she may actually prefer the pizazz on the backsplash for two reasons:

  • It’s easier and cheaper to change your backsplash down the road if you get tired of it.
  • Countertops are installed horizontally and impart less visual impact than a backsplash. You are going to see your backsplash from the rest of your house A LOT. You are going to chop veggies on your countertop staring directly down upon its lovely face for MUCH LESS TIME.
